Why should I watch your new show?
Every time I see the hype of a new TV show coming on I ask myself that question. Too many times I've bought into the hype, the effects, the characters. Only to have that show canceled before even its first season finishes airing. Now I'm invested into your characters on wondering about your story arc and you shut the showdown. I'm sure you all have your favorites and I have mine but I'm going to take threshold. A great series an incredible series with a beautiful story line with a five-year arc. It even had that great actor from the new series on HBO, Game of thrones, now it even had a big-name actor Brent Spiner from Star Trek's Lt. Commander Data fame. This show was continuously moved again and again from one times slot to another until it was finally canceled of course! They did it to me with firefly, they did it to me with Stargate universe and I'm sure they will do it again. So now the new seasons are beginning to start the hype begins again and I'm asking myself why should I even bother watching any of the shows, why should I invest my time, energy and effort into something that I have no guarantee you're even going to keep on the air? I decided I wasn't going to do it anymore yet I broke down I watched Terranova, and guess what, they did it again. How does it end? What were the mysteries that you kept alluding to, what's going to happen to those people in the past? I don't know, you didn't tell us, you canceled the series, again! So if anybody out there has a good reason why I should even bother allowing myself to buy into the hype once more please comment because at this point I can't think of one I can't think of why I should waste my time, the problem is I decide this and then three or four seasons down the road the show turns out to be great and they keep it, House ended up being just one of these types of shows and Fringe got me with this too. I watch the first episodes of both incredible shows and I really enjoyed them and of course I decided the shows are too good, there too cerebral, nobody's going to like them, it's going to get canceled and then what happens, but they didn't get canceled and of course now it's way too late to get back into the sYeries so now what. Well house is finished, and I understand Fringe is coming up on the end of it's cycle so I guess my only option is to buy them on Blu-ray, but that is the center of the conundrum. How do you decide what shows the network is going to decide to keep? I think part of the problem is the way they choose which shows to keep, they use this antiquated system which is based on watching live TV and who's watching live TV at any given moment when I think most people in the US use TiVos or DVR systems. Now I'm not a citizen of another country I don't know how these things work there, but why don't all these TiVos and DVR's report back what people are watching what shows people are recording and send that information to the networks so that they know which shows we want to see, it shouldn't be that difficult, and they already do something of the sort so I don't think it could be constitutionally illegal. It just makes more sense to use the technology that we use on a daily basis which dictates what we watch on television to decide what shows to keep making, I don't know maybe this is illegal or constitutionally inappropriate, anyway I'd love to hear your thoughts on it but this is a problem, not a major problem but a problem and I don't see it going away anytime soon, thanks again for reading I hope you enjoy this.
