Diet, exercise, obesity, and a billion $$$ Empire
Dieting and exercise, and how much money we spend on these things, not really thinking about the long-term effects that dieting and exercise could have on our health as well as the level of obesity that exists in the United States and growing more and more in the western and eastern worlds. Seems like a concise bullet point doesn't? Obesity and diabetes are on the rise around the world in countries especially in the eastern part of the world which have never had problems like this, now are suddenly developing Western -itis at a terribly rapid rate. And here in the US there is always some new fad diet new super fruit some new super exercise it's going to fix everything for just the right amount of money. Yet obesity remains as unmoving as it ever has, in fact for all our government attempts and statements that they are trying to abolish obesity and overweight habits they're doing everything they can to make sure we remain that way. The only thing the US has tried to do is figure out a way to tax the very fat and sugar they are subsidizing for us to eat. When the government is giving farmers money to grow corn for sugar which they use for soda then that same government wants to talk soda because it has sugar in it seems to me a bit of a double standard. Let's not go so far as to say it's a complete hypocrisy where they're trying to make money off of us and the very sicknesses they are creating. I mean the diet industry is one of the biggest industries in the world making nearly as much money as the pharmacology Industries. Very rarely are there ever any long-term studies done before a new diet comes out trying to find out whether they may be damaging in the long run, just like the Atkins diet which seemed an amazing new diet that would remove carbohydrates and we would lose weight very quickly and become healthy only to determine years later that such a protein rich diet would lead us to heart problems, cholesterol problems, and would eventually bring about our death. Personally it's my belief that humanity needs to look at this, and I mean all of humanity, and really ascertain what is the healthiest option for us as a people. And by healthiest I don't mean fad diets or fad exercises I mean healthiest in the broadest sense of the word, pharmacology seems to be the magic word but it can't be the word of the future if it is we as a species are doomed. Now don't get me wrong I rely on pills to walk, to maintain a normal life but I have serious health issues now in the long run maybe if people look for non-formulary solutions there might be better ways to solve my problems than with a knife or with a chemical. One of the major issues I see happening is a lot of people are thinking it won't happen to me but believe me we all get sick we all get hurt and at some point we will all need medical help and if it's not there or if we have to bankrupt ourselves to get it then we have failed not as a nation but as a world and as a people.
