Chrome kindle, and Netflix
Some new apps on my iPad that I am truly and continue releasably amazed by, first I'm going to talk about chrome thank you so much Apple for finally allowing chrome to be available to all of us using your iOS. Chrome is a great software and they having a a really killer feature called incognito, which allows you to have one opening screen a multiple pages in separate tabs, once you press the incognito button it switches you over onto a whole new screen, where the sites you visit are not recorded in your history and doesn't allow cookies to be left behind and so makes it very hard to keep track of where you have been, unless of course you put a bookmark in. It also allows for your bookmarks to be transferred from all of your devices using chrome. Really really a great program I just wish Apple had made it so that your Safari bookmarks could've been imported into the new chrome browser they need to make their operating system more functional with the new app. Now Kindle probably my favorite app of all time. This program allows you to take your library with you anywhere and everywhere and the new system that they have for the iPad allows you to actually read graphic novels, and comic books pretty much everything that's available on the fire is now available on the iPad hopefully they will come out with a version for the iPhone soon. It continuously astounds me that books that I have surrounding me which take up entire rooms now it completely on my iPhone which of course fits in my pocket,it is a never ending shock to me where technology is going, my only real complaint can be that they need more books available in the e-book format. Some of my favorite authors have most of their works available, some of them have some of their works available and some of my favorite authors have none of their works available and this is really frustrating because I will not think twice about repurchasing them to be able to take them with me everywhere, what's really irritating is the fact that some of them have all of their works available in some countries but because they are licensed under other publishing houses are not being released in other countries. Greg Egan for instance has all of his books available in the UK but very few of his books and most of them not his best are available here in the US. Hopefully this is something that will be changed in time. It is also nice to see that the belief that some books are inherently so good and so important that they're available free of charge. Honestly I don't know how much of that has to do with copyright but I like to believe that most people just believe that they are that important and they need to be read. Last but not least even slightly is Netflix, this is probably one of the greatest programs I have ever seen. Making available to you the movies TV series the new shows everything that's available is really really incredible my problem with it is you never know when they're going to disappear you start getting into a series to watch them and there's a limited amount of time that you can watch tv with life and all, just in general. You get to the middle of lost and you're totally into the series and then suddenly it's gone you have no idea how it ends or what happens all because you got into the series in the first place. Now I don't know how this works on their side but I do know that once they release something they need to make sure that it stays available not with a time limit or telling you that it's going to expire in a certain time we just need to make it available so that you can trust it is going to be there when you want to watch it! I know with Babylon 5 I got partway into the season and suddenly it was gone I called Netflix and they said it will be back in any day and now months and months later is still gone. One of the reasons I kept Netflix after the first month was the fact that it had things like farscape, firefly, lexx, sliders, heros, dr who, primevel, AND Babylon 5, now B5 is gone and there's nothing I can do about it. Basically just some thoughts on a few apps that are out there that if you haven't tried you might think about it, they really can be worth it especially if you have Wi-Fi, and don't have to worry about data usage. What I'm sure will become the bane of the future, or at least one of many little irritants of the future.
